Meet the creator

I'm Juanita Blankumsee. I'm a music educator, and I've spent more than 15 years teaching music to children ages 3 and up. I hold a Master of Arts in Education (M.A. Ed.).

I created Toddler Piano Book so families can start piano at home, together, before committing to lessons.

My mission

I want piano to be something a parent and child share. Toddler Piano Book brings the parent into the child's piano learning: you sit together for 10–15 minutes a day, and you learn alongside your child.

What the book focuses on

  • Ear training and listening
  • Playing and exploring the instrument
  • Matching visual patterns up and down the keyboard

It is made for an acoustic piano or a full-size keyboard. A higher-quality instrument is best.

Level 1 is a pilot

Level 1 is the first book in the series. My goal is to reach 5,500 families with Level 1. Every copy sold helps fund Level 2 and the next books in the series.
